Now that the New Year is well underway, things are busy again in the Mecklenburg County Courthouse. Things appeared to slow down in December, especially around the holidays. Not many cases were set around Christmas or New Years. Unfortunately, all of this backlog has started coming through the system, so everyone is trying to play catchup. Over the past couple of weeks there have been many cases being handled. Just because there are many people out for the holidays, it does not mean that the traffic court will have less work to do. It has to get done some time. So here we are in the New Year and we are having to handle cases that otherwise may have been heard at the end of the year.
In addition, we expect more tickets to be written in Charlotte this year since it is a growing city. With more people, there are more tickets that are written.
